Dusty Purple Tank

In the process of knitting a gorgeous purple tank top.  It consists of ribbing, lace and cables.  I've already finished the back part.  Working on the front now.  I had to do a little tweaking because the pattern was written for someone with a shorter torso than me.  So I made the ribbed part at the bottom longer.  I think it's going to look awesome.  I'm hoping to have it finished within the next week.  I'd like to wear it to church on the 29th because I'm singing in church.  I still haven't picked a song, but I'll work on that a bit this week.  I have three choices.

  • "Perfect People" by Natalie Grant
  • "This Little Light of Mine" by Addison Road
  • "The Lost Get Found" by Britt Nicole

Feel free to look them up on YouTube.    They are all awesome!

Anyway, back to knitting!

Tutoring Break

Currently I'm sitting in my little tutoring cubicle.  No students anywhere.  Why is it they wait till the last minute to get help.  That's one of my biggest pet peeves is when people show up right before finals and say they have no idea how to do any of it.  I'm like "where were you at the beginning of the semester when I really could have helped you?"  Nope, instead they expect me to cram in all the algebra, statistics, or calculus I can in the alloted 30 minutes I have to tutor them.  Not gonna happen.  And I don't feel sorry for those people that fail because of that poor decision.  I'm here every Tues, Wed, and now Friday afternoons, waiting for students who can't quite grasp the math skills they need to pass their classes.  Waiting....waiting....yep.  Still waiting.  Looks like it's going to be a long semester....

Try, Try Again

The only real failure in life is the failure to try.
Fear of failure must never be a reason not to try something.

My new skill that I'm learning this year is knitting in the round, on double-pointed needles.  It's tough, and I've failed many times.  But today after 2 hours, I now have 1/2 of a pair of wrist warmers.  LOL  Not to mention it is too small for my hands.  Oh well, I'll take that failure and turn it into a successful pair of fingerless gloves for my daughter!  She'll love them.
Looking forward to my complete set of DPN's  that are supposed to be coming in the mail.  Can't wait, because then I'll be able to complete a pair of these gloves for myself, just using a larger set of needles.  So far 2011 is looking good and I'm glad I didn't let the fear of failing stop me from learning this new knitting technique.
